PFIM - Integrity Management Software

One of the important GIS-related fields is Integrity Management. It deals with the establishment of priorities for pipeline and plant safety and is normally subject to extensive regulatory reporting requirements. This is a complex activity, given all the "threats" that need to be tracked, such as corrosion, improper operation, external forces, etc.. At the same time, each event can have "consequences", and one may have to assign "Levels of Consequence". So, the modern approach is to map "Likelihood of Failure" against "Level of Consequence", and do that for many pipeline and plant components. This probabilistic exercise results in a prioritization of remedial action that helps reduce the negative impact a disaster may have onto communities or ecosystems.

GeoCounsel is pleased to bring the following two products to the integrity management market:

1. Integrity Solutions, Ltd. "PFIM" program, which consists of ready-made alphanumeric database structures based on Access (for data storage and analysis) and Excel (for data entry and edit). Recognized as the most modern and simplest-to-use solution, PFIM gives a comprehensive solution that is fast and easy to implement. PFIM is based on Ken Muhlbauer's "OR-gate" principles.

2. HazStation from Dr. Thomas Mitchell, a stand alone suite of ArcGIS applications that are used to bring geographic quantities into play. It provides dissimilar linear feature intersections (such as pipelines and rivers) and linear-surface feature intersections (pipelines and lakes) to establish how spills may affect downstream communities and ecosystems, or how spills may spread into communities or ecosystems over surfaces. HazStation can be integrated with PFIM to provide a comprehensive solution. HazStation runs on any version of ArcGIS, from ArcView to ArcGIS v9.3.

GeoCounsel holds the exclusive international sales contract with Integrity Solutions. Please contact us for more information or a quotation.
